[쿠웨이트펀드] 포트사이드 담수화 프로젝트에 대출 승인

아랍경제개발쿠웨이트기금(KFAED, The Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development)이 약 15만㎥/일 규모의 해수담수화 프로젝트를 위해 약 1억1천500만 달러를 이집트 정부에 대출해 주기로 했다.

역삼투(RO) 기술을 이용하는 이번 담수화 시설은 완공 후 동부 포트사이드(Port Said) 신도시에 식수 및 산업 용수를 제공할 것으로 예상된다. 해수 취수지 및 염수 처리 시스템은 약 25만㎥/일 용량으로 설계될 예정이다. 프로젝트는 오는 2019년 완공될 것으로 기대된다.

Kuwait Fund confirms loan for Port Said desalination project

The Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development has confirmed a loan of KWD35 million ($115 million) to the government of Egypt for a 150,000 m3/d seawater desalination plant.

The reverse osmosis plant will provide the new city of Eastern Port Said, which is under construction, with water for drinking and industrial uses. The seawater intake and brine disposal systems will be designed with a 250,000 m3/d capacity plant in mind, to enable future expansion.

Ground breaks in 2017, and work is expected to complete by 2019.

The project loan is to cover all civil works required for the plant, including a water distribution network of 700 kilometres. The loan term is 25 years, and it's to be repaid over 40 instalments, with five years grace in the beginning.

At the same time, the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development also awarded two grants to Egypt, one to cover aid in response to the Syrian refugee crisis, and another for a feasibility study for a solar power plant, and a factory to manufacture solar cells.
