MARYSVILLE, MI., AWARDED $2 MILLION FOR SEWER WORK
The sewer system in one Michigan town is finally getting an upgrade, after sitting on a waiting list for almost three years.
Authorities in Marysville, Mi., will receive $2 million from the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality in addition to a $400,000 local match, to work on water and sewer projects.
The Times Herald reports that upgrades could affect residents' utility bills in the future, if processes becomes more streamlined.
The town was one of several to apply for funding through the MDEQ's Storm, Assessment Management and Wastewater program. The $2 million award is the maximum allowed through the program.
Funds will not only pay for new upgrades, but will reimburse the city for work already done to improve sewer infrastructure. One item on the city's list is the building of a new pump station, which it has already begun to design.
