[미국] 자일럼, ‘2016년 지속가능 경영보고서’ 발간

다국적 수자원기술 전문기업 자일럼(Xylem)은 최근 ‘2016년 지속가능 경영보고서(2016 Sustainability Report)’를 발표했다.

자일럼(Xylem)이 최근 발간한 ‘2016년 지속가능 경영보고서(2016 Sustainability Report)’는 물 사용을 25% 줄이고 온실가스 배출량 및 폐기물 매립을 20% 감소시키는 등 5년 지속 가능성 목표에 대한 수자원기술 기업의 발전에 대해 자세히 설명하고 있다.

자일럼(Xylem)은 2016년 센서스(Sensus) 인수를 반영하여 2020년까지 25%에서 30%로, 지난 5년간 출시된 제품의 판매 비율인 활력 지수 목표를 높였다.

자일럼(Xylem)의 패트릭 데커(Patrick Decker) 사장 겸 CEO는 "우리는 지속 가능성 전략을 우리의 사업 전략에 직접 연계시켜 지속 가능성을 효율적이고 원활하게 모든 사업에 통합할 수 있게 되었다"라면서 "우리는 자체 환경 오염을 줄이기 위해 노력하고 있지만, 고객이 자체 운영을 보다 지속 가능하게 관리 할 수 있도록 지원하는 스마트 기술 및 통합 솔루션에 중점을 두어 연구 개발에 그 어느 때보다 투자하고 있다. 한 번에 한 고객이 이러한 노력을 통해 전 세계에 보다 탄력적인 공동체를 구축 할 수 있게 되었다"고 말했다.

회사의 기업 시민활동인 Xylem Watermark를 통해 Xylem 직원은 2016년에 수자원 관련 활동에 21,000명 이상의 자원봉사 활동을 기록했다.

이달 초, 도널드 트럼프(Donald Trump) 대통령이 파리 기후협약에서 미국을 철수시키기로 한 결정에 따라, 자일렘(Jylem)은 협약에 대한 계속적인 약속을 지켜애 한다는 성명서를 발표했으며, 세계 공동체가 기후변화의 영향을 완화할 수 있는 실용적인 해결책과 혁신기술에 대한 필요성을 강조했다.

Xylem releases 2016 Sustainability Report

Xylem Inc’s recently published 2016 Sustainability Report details the water technology company’s progress against its five-year sustainability goals, which include reducing water use by 25% and greenhouse gas emission intensity and waste-to-landfill by 20%.

Xylem has increased its vitality index goal - the percentage of sales from products launched in the past five years - from 25% to 30% by 2020, reflecting last year’s acquisition of Sensus.

Through Xylem Watermark, the company’s corporate citizenship initiative, Xylem employees logged more than 21 000 volunteer hours in water-related activities during 2016.
 
Earlier this month, following President Donald Trump’s decision to withdraw the US from the Paris climate agreement, Xylem issued a statement outlining its continued commitment to the agreement, and highlighting the need for practical solutions and innovative technologies to help global communities mitigate the impacts of climate change and adapt to its resulting effects, such as prolonged drought and increased flooding.
