[미국]  브렌트 우드의 ‘NSF / ANSI 표준 61 인증’ 대 규정 준수

브렌트 우드(Brentwood)는 고객과 물산업에 고품질의 제품과 서비스를 제공하기 위해 노력해오고 있다. 이러한 이유로 브렌트 우드(Brentwood)는 수처리 및 유통 분야에서 ‘NSF / ANSI 표준 61 인증’을 획득하는데 투자를 지속해 왔다.

브렌트 우드(Brentwood) 제품이 NSF 인증을 획득하기 전에 개발의 모든 측면을 독립적 인 테스트 기관에서 철저히 평가한다. 이 평가에는 광범위한 제품 테스트에서 재료 분석, 공장 검사에 이르기까지 모든 것이 포함된다.

평가 프로세스는 일회성 이벤트가 아니다. 여기에는 원재료, 제조 시설 및 제품 감시에 대한 정기적 인 현장 감사가 포함되어 있어 시간이 지남에 따라 인증을 유지하는 데 필요한 동일한 높은 기준을 지속적으로 충족시킬 수 있다.

 NSF 승인을 받은 제품은 일반적으로 "NSF 인증"과 같은 용어를 사용하여 인증을 표시하고 승인된 NSF 인증 마크를 표시하여 독립 제품 테스트 및 인증기관의 인증을 받았음을 나타낸다.

제조업체가 자사의 제품이 NSF 표준을 준수한다고 주장하면 제품이 표준 요구 사항을 준수하지만 규정 준수가 결정된 방법이나 방법을 알리지 않는다. 규정 준수를 주장하는 제조업체는 언제든지 공급 업체 또는 자재를 변경할 수 있는 유연성을 가지므로 잠재적으로 "규격"제품을 변경할 수 있다. 

즉, 제품 및 재료는 ‘NSF / ANSI 표준 61’ 요구사항을 충족하기 위해 독립적 인 제 3자가 물리적으로 평가, 테스트 또는 인증하지 않는다.  그러나 이러한 제조업체는 ‘NSF / ANSI 61 요구 사항 테스트’ 또는 ‘NSF / ANSI 61 준수’와 같이 모호한 언어를 사용하여 제품이 표준을 충족하는 것처럼 보이게 한다.

 미국 주정부 식수관리인협회(USCA)는 미국 내 7개주를 제외한 모든 국가에서 인증(권장 사항뿐 아니라 규제 및 필수)이 필요하다는 회원 설문 조사를 실시했다.  이것은 NSF 인증이 구성 요소가 활용되는 시설에 대해 일정 수준의 보호를 제공하기 때문이다.

NSF/ANSI Standard 61: Certification vs. Compliance

Certification
Before a product can earn NSF certification, every aspect of its development is thoroughly evaluated by an independent testing laboratory. This evaluation includes everything from extensive product testing to material analyses to factory inspections.

And the evaluation process is not a one-time event; it involves regular on-site audits of raw materials, manufacturing facilities, and surveillance of products to ensure that they continue to meet the same high standards required to maintain certification over time.

Products that earn NSF approval typically use terminology such as “NSF certified” or “NSF listed” to denote the certification and will display the approved NSF certification mark to show that they have been certified by an independent product testing and certification organization.

Compliance
When a manufacturer makes the claim that its products are compliant with the NSF standard, it is stating that the product adheres to the requirements of the standard but does not communicate how or by whom compliance was determined.

Manufacturers who claim compliance also have the flexibility to change suppliers or materials at any time, potentially altering the “compliant” product. In other words, the products and materials are not physically evaluated, tested, or certified by an independent third party to meet the NSF/ANSI Standard 61 requirements.

However, these manufacturers often utilize vague language such as “tested to the requirements of NSF/ANSI 61” or “compliant with NSF/ANSI 61” to make it appear as though the products meet the standard.

So, what’s the big deal?
The Association of State Drinking Water Administrators conducted a member survey that found certification is required ? not just recommended, but regulated and required ? in all but 7 states in the U.S.! This is because NSF certification provides a certain level of protection for the facilities the components are being utilized in.
