[일본] 파나소닉, 인도네시아서 양수기 누적 3천만대 생산

 

 

파나소닉(Panasonic)이 인도네시아 공장(Panasonic Manufacturing Indonesia, PMI)에서 양수기 누적 생산 대수가 지난 4월 3000만대(*1)를 넘었다고 발표했다. 1988년 인도네시아에서 내셔널(National, 현 파나소닉) 브랜드 양수기 제조를 시작한 지 약 30년 만이다. 이 양수기는 인근 동남아시아 국가 및 중동에도 수출되어 전 세계에 더 나은 생활 환경을 조성하는 데 일조하고 있다.

 

인도네시아 양수기 생산에 관련된 대표자들이 이번 업적을 축하하기 위해 함께 했다.

 

■ 인도네시아의 양수기 관련 현황
인도네시아를 비롯한 아시아 일부 지역에서는 적절한 수도 설비가 갖춰져 있지 않아서 주민들이 우물에 크게 의존하고 있다. 인도네시아에서는 우물에서 전기로 끌어올린 물을 음용수 외의 가정용 수원으로 널리 사용하고 있다.

일부 지역은 전력이 부족하기 때문에 전력을 많이 소비하는 양수기를 조명 장치, TV, 냉장고 등과 함께 사용하면 주어진 전력량을 초과할 우려가 있다. 때문에 많은 가정이 양수기를 사용하기 위해 다른 전기 장치의 전원을 끄는 불편함을 감수해야 한다.

현재 파나소닉은 파나소닉과 산요(SANYO) 브랜드 양수기를 인도네시아에 공급하고 있다. 1988년 내셔널(현 파나소닉) 브랜드 양수기가 이곳에서 출시됐다. 1998년 새 공장이 설립됐고, 이후 공장이 확장됐다. 2011년부터는 수요를 보다 빠르게 채우기 위해 산요 브랜드 제품도 제작하고 있다.

PMI는 파나소닉, 산요, KDK 브랜드 양수기를 제조하는 유일한 글로벌 공장이다. 1992년부터 말레이시아를 시작으로 1998년 베트남, 1999년 미얀마 등 이웃 나라에 제품을 수출하고 있다. 파나소닉은 인도네시아 국경을 넘어 다른 동남아 국가 및 중동 지역에 걸쳐 물 공급 사업을 벌이며 사람들의 생활 환경 개선에 기여하고 있다.

OSAKA, JAPAN--(Business Wire / Korea Newswire) August 09, 2019 -- On August 8, 2019, Panasonic announced that cumulative production of its water pumps in Indonesian factory, Panasonic Manufacturing Indonesia (PMI) has reached 30 million units(*1) in April this year, approximately 30 years since the company started manufacturing National (now Panasonic) brand water pumps in Indonesia in 1988.

A ceremony to mark the achievement was held on August 8. These water pumps have also been exported to neighboring Southeast Asian countries and the Middle East, contributing to creating a better living environment across the globe.

■ Current situation surrounding water pumps in Indonesia
In parts of Asia including Indonesia, adequate waterworks systems are yet to be installed, and residents' lives are highly dependent on well water. In Indonesia, water electrically pumped from wells is widely used as a source of domestic water except for drinking water.

Some areas still lack sufficient power, and using a pump, which is power hungry, along with lighting equipment, TV, and refrigerator may exceed the contracted amount of electricity. Therefore, many families are forced to lead inconvenient lives such as having to turn off other electrical equipment when using a pump.

Offering a wide variety of products from micropower low-capacity type for households to high-capacity type for housing, Panasonic has been promoting the development of new electric pumps in accordance with the circumstances surrounding waterworks and wells in respective countries.

Currently, Panasonic offers both Panasonic and SANYO brand water pumps in Indonesia. In 1988 National (now Panasonic) brand water pumps were launched there. In 1998, a new factory was built and production scale was expanded. Further, in 2011, production of SANYO brand products was launched to meet the demand more promptly.

PMI has the only global factory that manufactures Panasonic, SANYO and KDK brand water pumps. Export to neighboring countries started in 1992 to Malaysia, followed by Vietnam in 1998, Myanmar in 1999. In 2016, the sales saw an expansion to the Middle East.
