[이탈리아] 드 노라, 싱가포르서 물소독 프로젝트 수주
조호강 상수도에 현장 차아염소산염 발생장치 ‘ClorTec® 2250’ 제공키로
먹는물 소독 위한 안전하고 경제적이며 친환경적인 솔루션

전기화학 분야 글로벌 기업이자 물 소독·여과 선두업체인 드 노라(De Nora)가 싱가포르서 가장 큰 상수도 시설인 조호강 상수도(Johor River Water Works)로부터 아시아 최대 규모의 물소독 프로젝트를 수주했다. 이번 수주는 그간 드 노라가 싱가포르 서부에 위치한 체슈넛 상수도(Chestnut Water works)를 비롯해 여러 물 유틸리티 기관과 프로젝트를 수행하며 싱가포르 내에서 입지를 구축한 데 따른 성과다. 

드 노라에 따르면, 이번 프로젝트는 조호강 상수도(Johor River Water Works)의 기존 액화염소 및 암모니아 시스템을 드 노라의 ‘ClorTec® 2250’ 현장 차아염소산염 발생장치로 대체하는 사업이다. 드 노라는 현장에 있는 3개 플랜트 모두에 총 11개의 ‘ClorTec® 2250’ 장치를 제공한다. 각 장치의 전해조 용량은 1천20kg/일로, 입찰 요구사항인 900kg/일을 초과한다.

드 노라의 ‘ClorTec® 2250’ 현장 차아염소산염 발생장치는 물, 소금 및 전력의 세 가지 일반적인 소모품을 사용해 염화나트륨 용액을 전해조에 통과시키고, 염화물 이온을 차아염소산나트륨으로 전환해 염소 기반 소독제를 생산한다. 위험한 화학물질을 생성하거나 운송하지 않고 먹는물 처리를 위한 안전하고 경제적이며 효과적인 솔루션을 제공해 직원과 지역사회 안전을 보장할 수 있다는 것이 큰 장점이다.

‘ClorTec® 2250’ 장치는 특히, 부산물, 그 중에서도 염소산염의 생산을 최소화하는 데 최적화된 제품이다. 과거 체슈넛 애비뉴 상수도(Chestnut Avenue Water Works)에서 수행한 테스트에서도 드 노라의 ‘ClorTec® 225’ 장치는 염소산염 및 과염소산염과 같은 부산물을 권장량보다 4∼6배 낮게 생성하는 것으로 검증됐다. 덕분에 기존 시스템보다 운영비용을 약 15% 절감할 수 있다는 장점도 있다.

드 노라 워터 테크놀로지의 아시아 허브 총책임자인 마르완 네 시콜라치(Marwan Ne sicolaci)는 “차아염소산염을 현장에서 생성할 수 있는 안전하고 경제적이며 효과적인 우리 솔루션을 조호강 상수도에 제공하게 되어 기쁘게 생각한다”면서 “이번 수주는 지역 전체에 혁신 수처리 솔루션을 제공하기 위한 지속적인 노력에 대한 증거이며 우리는 아시아·태평양 전역의 다른 파트너들과의 지속적인 파트너십을 기대한다”고 말했다.

조호강 상수도의 ‘ClorTec® 2250’ 장치는 2023년 3월부터 본격 가동될 예정이다.

De Nora awarded one of Asia’s largest Water Disinfection Projects at Singapore’s Johor River Water Works

De Nora Water Technologies to provide on-site hypochlorite generation systems for Singapore’s Johor River Water Works; offering a safe, economical and effective solution for drinking water disinfection at one of Singapore’s most important water source.

De Nora – the global electrochemistry leader, water disinfection and filtration pioneer - announces the win of one of the largest water disinfection projects in Asia at the Johor River Water Works, the largest water works located in Malaysia.

Providing Johor River Water Works with an On-Site hypochlorite Generation System

This project will see a ClorTec® 2250 on-site hypochlorite generator from De Nora replacing the existing liquid chlorine and ammonia systems at Johor River Water Works.

In total, De Nora will provide 11 ClorTec® 2250 units across all three plants on-site.

Each unit will have an electrolyzer capacity of 1020kg/day, exceeding the tender requirements of 900kg/day.

This win is on the back of other successful projects with the leading water utility company in Singapore where De Nora ClorTec systems have been installed at multiple locations, including Chestnut Avenue Waterworks, located in the west of Singapore.

De Nora ClorTec 2250 on-site hypochlorite generation systems use three common consumables – water, salt and power – to produce chlorine-based disinfectants by passing a solution of sodium chloride through an electrolytic cell and converting the chloride ions into sodium hypochlorite.

It provides a safe, economical and effective solution for drinking water treatment without creating or transporting hazardous chemicals, ensuring the safety of personnel and the surrounding community.

As part of the tender process for the Johor Water Works project, the ClorTec 2250 systems had to meet stringent performance and efficiency targets in Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) across the relatively short period of six months. Of particular concern to the end user is the formation of by-products like chlorate, perchlorate and bromate. These by-products are emerging contaminants of concern in water sources globally, and awareness of these contaminants is increasing across Asia.

De Nora ClorTec on-site hypochlorite generation systems are optimized to help to minimize production of these by-products, especially chlorate. In tests performed at Chestnut Avenue Water Works, De Nora showed that on-site hypochlorite generation systems produced by-products such as chlorate and perchlorate at four to six times lower than the recommended value set out. These tests were certified and endorsed by the operation in charge at Chestnut Avenue Water Works.

With the benefit of more than 95 years of electrochemistry expertise, De Nora on-site generation systems feature market innovations including enhanced efficiency, remote monitoring, and simple installation and maintenance. At the heart of every De Nora electrochlorination system is the DSA® electrode technology pioneered by De Nora.        

The third generation of De Nora ClorTec on-site sodium hypochlorite generator uses an optimized electrochlorination process that delivers a 15 percent operating cost saving over the previous system.

The ClorTec 2250 unit at Johor River Water Works is expected to be operational by March 2023.
