[중국] 아쿠아포린, 침출수 처리 파일럿 프로젝트 수주
현지 그라디언트 환경 기술과 협력
정삼투압 사용 침출수 양 줄이면서 에너지 소비량도 적어

덴마크의 물 기술 회사 아쿠아포린(Aquaporin)이 중국으로부터 침출수를 효율적으로 처리해 국가의 엄격한 배출 기준을 충족할 수 있도록 하기 위한 파일럿 프로젝트를 수주했다.

아쿠아포린은 매립지 침출수 처리를 위한 지속가능하고 경제적인 솔루션을 제공하기 위해 그라디언트 환경 기술(Gradiant Environmental Technology)과 함께 고급 컨테이너화 파일럿 시스템 프로젝트를 추진한다.

아쿠아포린은 현재 글로벌 침출수 처리를 위한 최종 솔루션 기술을 테스트할 목적으로 중국 남부와 유럽에서 유사한 파일럿 프로젝트에 참여하고 있다.

아쿠아포린의 매트 보코스키(Matt Boczkowski) CCO 겸 부사장은 “우리는 이것이 침출수 처리를 위한 새로운 경제적 솔루션을 제공할 잠재력이 있는 기술 혁신이 될 수 있다고 믿는다”면서 “파일럿 프로젝트가 내년 여름 완료되면 중국 시장은 물론 전 세계적으로 정삼투압(FO) 기반 침출수 처리 솔루션을 보여주는 핵심 레퍼런스를 갖게 될 것”이라고 말했다.

그라디언트 차이나의 제이슨 유(Jason Yu) 전무이사는 “침출수 최소화 또는 ZLD(Zero Liquid Discharge)에 대한 수요는 중국에서 매우 큰 시장이다. 아쿠아포린과 그라디언트가 개발한 시스템을 통해 침출수 산업은 현지 규정을 충족하는 혁신적인 솔루션을 제공한다. 우리는 이 솔루션이 고객이 더 낮은 비용과 안정적인 운영으로 침출수를 처리하는 데 도움이 될 것이라고 믿는다”고 말했다.

정삼투법 사용 하·폐수 에너지 효율 처리

아쿠아포린의 컨테이너식 시스템은 정삼투압(FO)을 사용하여 현재 기술 및 방법으로 가능한 것보다 침출수 양을 더 줄인다. 부피가 작을수록 더 작은 증발기가 필요한데, 이는 매립지가 침출수를 제거하는 데 훨씬 적은 에너지를 사용한다는 것을 의미한다. 이와 동시에 배출 또는 재이용을 위한 깨끗한 물이 생성되어 하·폐수 처리의 지속가능성 실현과 탄소 발자국 감소에 기여할 것이다.

침출수 오염, 전 세계적 문제

침출수 관리는 처리하기 가장 복잡하고 어려운 폐수 중 하나이기 때문에 전 세계적인 과제다. 이 문제는 중국뿐만 아니라 전 세계적으로 관심이 높아지고 있다. 최근 매립지에서 이전에 처리되지 않은 수역으로 배출됐던 수질 오염물질에 대한 배출 기준에 대한 규제가 증가하고 있다. 아쿠아포린 관계자는 “당사의 혁신적인 FO 기술이 침출수 응용 분야의 방류 규정을 충족함으로써 매립지가 환경 보호에 대한 국가 정책을 준수하도록 도울 수 있는 방법을 입증할 수 있는 기회를 제공했다”고 말했다.

Aquaporin wins a pilot for an energy efficient solution to China’s leachate overflow

The Danish water technology company Aquaporin has won a strategic order in China to help a landfill meet the country’s strict discharge limits by treating leachate more efficiently.

Managing leachate discharge in China

In the first half of 2022, the landfill will receive an advanced containerized pilot system developed by Aquaporin in collaboration with Gradiant Environmental Technology to provide a sustainable and economical solution for treating landfill leachate. Aquaporin is currently involved in similar pilot projects in Southern China and Europe with the purpose of testing the technology to gain insights that will enable developing a final solution for the global leachate treatment market.

“We believe this could be a technology breakthrough that has the potential to provide a new economic solution for leachate treatment. When the pilot project is completed next Summer, we will have a key reference showcasing our forward osmosis (FO) based leachate treatment solution not only to the Chinese market, but globally,” says Matt Boczkowski, Aquaporin CCO & Deputy CEO.

“The demand for leachate minimization or Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) is a very big market in China. With the system developed by Aquaporin and Gradiant, the leachate industry has an innovative solution to meet local regulations. Using forward osmosis to treat wastewater energy efficiently

Aquaporin’s containerized system uses FO to further reduce the leachate volume as compared to what is possible with current technologies and methods. With lower volumes, smaller evaporators are required, meaning landfills will use noticeably less energy to eliminate the leachate. In parallel, clean water will be generated for discharge or reuse, contributing to a more sustainable future in wastewater treatment and lower carbon footprint.

Leachate pollution is a worldwide problem

Leachate management is a global challenge as it is one of the most complex and difficult wastewaters to treat. The subject is getting increased attention, not only in China, but on a global scale, where landfills are witnessing growing regulations for discharge limits for water pollutants that were previously discharged to water bodies untreated. This traction has given Aquaporin the opportunity to demonstrate how our innovative FO technology can help landfills live up to national policies on environmental protection by meeting water discharge regulations in leachate applications.
