알 타이어 CEO, “향후 5년간 재생·청정에너지 확대 및 수도시설 확충 강화”

두바이 수전력청(Dubai Electric and Water Authority ; DEWA)은 재생 및 청정에너지 프로젝트 확대를 포함한 향후 5년간 자본 지출에 400억 AED(14조2천880억 원)를 투자할 계획이라고 발표했다.

HE 사이드 모하메드 알 타이어(HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer) DEWA MD 겸 CEO는 “DEWA가 전기 및 수도 송·배전망 강화 및 확충을 위해 약 160억 AED(5조7천152억 원)를 투자할 계획이며, 인프라 및 스마트 시스템에서 진행중인 DEWA 프로젝트를 완료하는 것 외에도 모하메드 빈 라시드 알막툼 솔라파크(Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park), 하시안 파워 콤플렉스(Hassyan Power Complex) 및 독립 물 생산자(Independent Water Producer ; IWP) 프로젝트에서 독립 전력 생산자(Independent Power Producer ; IPP) 프로젝트를 완료하기 위해 약 120억 AED(4조2천895억 원)를 투자할 계획"이라고 언급했다.

DEWA가 70%를 소유하고 있는 에미레이트 중앙 냉방 시스템사(Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation ; Empower)는 지역 냉방 서비스에 대한 수요 증가를 충족시키기 위해 지역 냉방 용량 및 네트워크를 확장하는 데 주로 약 30억 AED(1조716억 원)를 지출할 계획이다.

 알 타이어 CEO는 “우리는 지속가능한 발전의 필요조건에 부합하는 발전된 인프라를 제공하기 위해 민-관협력을 강화하고 유망한 투자기회를 제공하기 위해 지혜로운 리더십의 지침 중 하나인 ‘50대 프로젝트(Projects of the 50)’에 전념하고 있다”라고 말했다.

그는 특히 “우리는 독립 전력 생산자(IPP) 모델에 따라 재생 에너지 및 물 담수화 프로젝트를 수행하기 위해 다양한 국내외 기업들과 전략적 제휴를 맺고 있다”라면서 “IPP 모델 덕분에 DEWA는 가장 낮은 태양 에너지 가격(평준화된 전기 비용)에서 많은 세계 기록을 달성하여 두바이를 태양광 발전 가격에 대한 글로벌 벤치마크가 되었다”라고 역설했다.

알 타이어 CEO는 이어 “DEWA는 증가하는 전기 및 수도 수요를 충족시키기 위해 미래 비전을 위한 최신 도구를 기반으로 한 정보에 입각한 계획을 통해 재생 에너지 발전 용량을 지속적으로 투자하고 강화할 것이다. DEWA는 최고 수준의 품질, 가용성, 신뢰성 및 효율성에 따라 서비스를 제공하며, 모든 분야에서 두바이의 급속한 성장에 발맞춰 나갈 것이다. 우리의 계획은 투자를 위한 우호적이고 지원적인 환경을 제공하는 진보된 모델로서 두바이의 위치를 공고히 할 것이다”라고 덧붙였다.

AED 40 billion capital expenditure for electricity and water projects in Dubai in the next five years

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), announced that DEWA has plans to invest AED 40 billion on capital expenditure in the next five years including the expansion of renewable and clean energy projects. 

He noted that DEWA plans to invest about AED 16 billion to strengthen and expand electricity and water transmission and distribution networks, about AED 12 billion to complete the Independent Power Producer (IPP) projects in the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, the Hassyan Power Complex and the Independent Water Producer (IWP) projects at Hassyan, in addition to completing other ongoing DEWA projects in infrastructure and smart systems. 

The Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower), which is 70% owned by DEWA, plans to spend around AED 3 billion mainly to expand district cooling capacity and network to meet demand growth for district cooling services.

“Thanks to the IPP model, DEWA achieved many world records in the lowest solar energy prices (Levelised Cost of Electricity), making Dubai a global benchmark for solar power prices,” said Al Tayer.

“DEWA will continue to invest and enhance renewables’ generation capacity, through informed plans based on the latest tools for future foresight, in order to meet the increasing demand for electricity and water. We provide our services in accordance with the highest levels of quality, availability, reliability and efficiency and will keep pace with the rapid growth of Dubai across all areas. Our plans will consolidate Dubai’s position as an advanced model that provides a favourable and supportive environment for investments,” added Al Tayer.
