로커스 포퍼먼스 인그리디언트(Locus Performance Ingredients ®, Locus PI)와 베올리아(Veolia Water Technologies & Solutions)는 지난 4월 18일 공정, 상하수의 지속가능성 및 성능 문제를 해결하고자 맞춤형 새로운 바이오 기반 솔루션 개발을 위한 협력을 체결했다고 밝혔다. 양사는 고객이 수자원을 최적화하고 공정 문제를 해결할 수 있도록 지원하는 것으로 유명한 베올리아의 광범위한 수처리 기술 및 공정 경험과 로커스 PI의 독점 발효(fermentation) 및 대규모 바이오 계면활성제 생산 능력 등 관련 전문 지식과 자원을 결합할 예정이다

지속가능한 수처리 및 공정 처리 재료(process treatment ingredients)는 로커스 PI의 고성능 다기능 미생물 계면활성제인 소포로리피드(sophorolipids) 라인(당지질 계열의 바이오 계면활성제의 일종)을 출발점으로 삼을 것이다. 이러한 바이오 유래 계면활성제는 일반적으로 수처리 및 공정 처리에 사용되는 화석 기반 및 기타 바이오 기반 계면활성제에 비해 많은 독특한 이점을 가지며고 있으며, 탄소중립 생산 공정에서 재생가능한 농업 재료로부터 생산된다. 로커스 PI의 바이오 계면활성제는 또한 100% 바이오 기반 성분을 함유한 것으로 USDA 인증을 받았으며, REACH 등록, 「독성 물질 관리법(Toxic Substances Control Act, TSCA)」, 클리 그리디언트(CleanGredients) 인증 제품 사용 승인 등 다양한 안전 인증을 보유하고 있다.

Locus Performance Ingredients and Veolia Water Technologies & Solutions will collaborate on bio based water & process treatment additives that advance sustainability objectives, and address process, water and wastewater challenges.

Locus Performance Ingredients is a leader in the development and production of bio surfactants, which are 100% bio based, readily biodegradable and highly biocompatible alternatives to surfactants. The new water and process treatment solutions will be developed using Locus Performance Ingredients’ bio based technology platform.

Locus Performance Ingredients  ®   (Locus PI) and Veolia Water Technologies & Solutions  announced today their exclusive collaboration that will focus on developing new bio based solutions tailored to address process, water and wastewater sustainability and performance challenges. Both companies will combine their relevant expertise and resources—Veolia’s expansive water treatment technology and process experience renowned for helping customers optimize water resources and overcome process challenges, and Locus PI’s proprietary fermentation and large-scale bio surfactant production capabilities.

The sustainable water and process treatment ingredients will feature Locus PI’s line of high-performance, multifunctional sophorolipids—a type of bio surfactant in the glycolipid class—as a starting point. These bio-derived surfactants have many unique advantages over fossil-based and other bio-based surfactants typically used in water and process treatment and are produced from renewable agricultural materials in a carbon-neutral production process. Locus PI’s bio surfactants are also USDA certified for containing 100% bio based content, and have a multitude of safety certifications, including REACH registration, Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) and CleanGredients approval for use in Safer Choice-certified products, including for direct release applications.
