[미국] 물연구재단, 스마트 워터 기술 발전 위한 ‘2024 IWS’ 개최

물연구재단(The Water Research Foundation, WRF)은 물환경연합(Water Environment Federation, WEF)과 공동으로 지능형 워터 시스템의 가치를 입증하고, 스마트 워터 기술의 채택을 장려하기 위한 ‘제6회 지능형 워터 시스템 챌린지(Intelligent Water Systems Challenge)’를 개최한다.

오늘날 물 산업은 공공보건 및 생태 건강을 보호하기 위해 복합한 처리, 수집 및 유통 시스템을 운영하고 있다. 이러한 시스템은 운영의 용이성을 위해 주요 프로세스 지표 및 기타 매개 변수를 모니터링하도록 점점 더 많이 도구화되고 있다.

물환경재단과 물환경연맹의 기술혁신선도자포럼(Leaders Innovation Forum for Technology, LIFT) 프로그램은 이러한 ‘지능형 워터 시스템’에 대한 가치를 입증하기 위해 LIFT 지능형 워터 시스템 챌린지를 매년 개최하고 있다. 

IWS 챌린지는 데이터를 효과적으로 활용하는 지능형 워터 시스템의 능력을 보여줌으로써 스마트 워터 기술의 채택을 장려한다. IWS 챌린지는 참가자들이 개발한 솔루션을 평가하며, 최종 우승 상금으로 1만 달러를 제공한다.

챌린지는 전 세계의 수도 시설과 협력해 개별과제를 제공한다. 챌린지는 △유틸리티에서 제공하는 과제 선택 후 해당 유틸리티 직원과 협력해 솔루션 접근 방식을 개발 및 구현 △유틸리티가 제공하는 과제 선택  유틸리티와의 상호작용을 최소화하면서 솔루션을 개발 및 구현 등 두 가지 유형의 해결책을 요구한다. 

학계 및 학생, 전문가 및 기술 전문가 등 누구나 참여할 수 있다.

팀은 최소 2명에서 최대 6명으로 구성할 수 있으며, 각 팀원은 개별적으로 등록을 완료해야 한다. 

2024 IWS 챌린지 등록 마감은 오는 4월 22일까지이며, 결선 진출자들은 10월 7일 LA 뉴올리언스(New Orleans)에서 열리는 2024 물산업전시회(Water Environment Federation’s Technical Exhibition and Conference, WEFTEC 2024)에서 대상 상금 1만 달러를 놓고 경쟁하게 된다.

1월 22일: IWS 챌린지 런칭 

4월 8일: IWS에 관심 있는  참가자를 위한 웹캐스트 

5월 13일: 챌린지 플랜 마감

7월 29일: 챌린지 솔루션 마감

9월 2일: 결선 진출자 통보

10월 7일: WEFTEC 2024에서 최종 발표 및 시상식

2024 Intelligent Water Systems Challenge

The Leaders Innovation Forum for Technology (LIFT) program, a joint effort of The Water Research Foundation (WRF) and the Water Environment Federation (WEF), is holding the sixth Intelligent Water Systems Challenge to demonstrate the value of intelligent water systems and thereby foster the adoption of smart water technologies. The Challenge allows students, professionals, and technology aficionados to showcase their talents and innovation, focusing on leveraging data using the best available tools to help utilities better understand the dynamics of complex systems and make better decisions.

January 22: Challenge Launch

April 8: Webcast for interested participants in IWS Challenge

April 22: Team Registration Deadline

May 13: Challenge Plan Deadline

July 29: Challenge Solution Deadline

September 2: Finalists notified

October 7: Finalist presentations and awards ceremony at WEFTEC 2024
