[미국] SNRC의 하·폐수 재이용 시설 가동

최대 800만 갤런/일 하·폐수 처리…샌 버나디노 주민 거주 약 65만 명에게 서비스 제공

벙커힐 지하수 찾기·피크닉 공간 및 실내 공간 제공 등

누크어 비티(Balfour Beatty)와 이스트 워터 밸리 디스트릭트(East Water Valley District, EWVD)는 천연 자원 센터(Sterling Natural Resource Center, SNRC)의 하·폐수 재이용 시설이 가동으로 가동을 시작해야 합니다. 

이 시설은 버나디노(San Bernadino)에 거주하는 약 65만 명의 고객에게 서비스를 제공할 수 있도록 하며, 최대 800만 갤런(mgd)/일의 하·폐수를 처리하고, 벙커 힐(Bunker Hill)에 존재하는 남부 수유역에 물을 협력하여 지역 사회의 구성원을 형성하는 데 도움을 줄 것입니다.  

누크어 비티가 이 시설의 설계 및 구조를 담당했고, SNRC의 하·폐수수 시설 및 관리 센터를 인도하기 위해 상위 디자이너이자 대표 건축회사(engineer-of-record, EOG)인 좋은 처리디스(Arcadis), 대표적인 건축회사(architect-of-record, AOR)인 루나우 클라크(Ruhnau Clark Architects), 통합 분산(co-digestion) 프로젝트의 하이라이트 업체인 아나르기아(Anaergia)와 부분을 맺었습니다.

SNRC에서 재이용된 물은 첨단 기술을 잘 활용하는 처리 과정을 거친 후 지역 수유역을 존재하고, 자연적인 회전을 포옹하게 됩니다. 또한 고급 막 부분 처리기(MBR)와 병원(UV) 처리 기술을 통합해 전체 하·폐수 처리를 담당할 것입니다.

첨단 최첨단 선박 시스템(선박 시스템)을 공기를 통해 '스크럽(스크럽)'함으로써 시설의 악취를 제거할 수 있을 뿐만 아니라 실내 공간 외에 야외 공간과 편리한 공간을 제공합니다.  

SNRC는 또한 통합소화(co-digestion) 기술을 사용해 유기 폐기물을 재생 가능한 전기로 전환하고, 에너지 생산 후 남은 재료를 비료 생산에 사용할 수 있는 잠재력을 제공한다.

Wastewater Facility At Sterling Natural Resource Center Fully Operational

Balfour Beatty and the East Water Valley District (EWVD) celebrates a fully operational wastewater recycling facility at Sterling Natural Resource Center which serves approximately 650,000 customers in Highland and portions of the City and County of San Bernadino. A ceremony was held on May 3 to commemorate the reclamation facility’s newly functioning capabilities which includes treating up to eight million gallons of wastewater per day (mgd) and mitigating drought conditions in the community by replenishing the Bunker Hill Groundwater Basin.

“Our commitment to operational excellence throughout the entire design-build process showcases the extensive expertise and value our team and partners bring to wastewater projects in our communities,” said Tom Murray, Balfour Beatty area operations manager in the West. “I commend our workforce and all those involved in providing an innovative solution for the thousands of residents who will benefit from EWVD’s water treatment processes and services.”

Balfour Beatty served as design-build contractor and partnered with Arcadis, lead designer and engineer-of-record, Ruhnau Clark Architects, architect-of-record, and Anaergia, project co-digestion lead, to deliver SNRC’s wastewater treatment facility and administration center which opened in 2022.

Water recycled at the SNRC will undergo a rigorous treatment process using state-of-the-art technology before being recharged into the local groundwater supply where it will go through the natural water cycle again. The treatment facility integrates advanced membrane bioreactors (MBR) and ultraviolet (UV) disinfection technologies to reduce the overall wastewater treatment footprint.

The project team also delivered extensive state-of-the-art vessel systems to “scrub” the air and remove odor from the facility, enabling SNRC to be a good neighbor to the community, as well as providing outdoor green spaces and picnic areas in addition to the indoor community.

“This is a monumental milestone for our community and region,” said Michael Moore, EWVD General Manager/CEO. “A progressive design build partnership was formed with Balfour Beatty, Arcadis and many other talented companies and individuals who made this project a reality. The design-build team collaborated to meet a variety of challenges to improve our water resiliency for several generations.”

The SNRC will also be able to use co-digestion technology to transform imported organic waste into renewable electricity and a potential to use the material that remains after energy generation to produce fertilizer.

Situated on a 20-acre parcel of land, the SNRC’s wastewater treatment facility is located on the eastern property and the community center is located on the western parcel. For more information on SNRC please visit eastvalley.org/SNRC.
