Point Lisas nears end of sixth expansion
Desalcott's Point Lisas seawater reverse osmosis plant in Trinidad, West Indies, is nearing completion on its sixth expansion since it was commissioned in 2002.
The expansion of the consists of the addition of a new 914mm intake header, three new 483mm pipelines from the intake to the plant, an upgrade to the flocculation/sedimentation basins, a new clearwell pump, one new seawater reverse osmosis train, two new brackish water reverse osmosis trains, a new 915 mm permeate header, a new product delivery station and modifications to the chemical feed systems.
The next planned expansion is scheduled for June 2015 and will include adding more reverse osmosis capacity along with a Pall MF pretreatment system, following three years of pilot studies. The plant is the largest seawater desalination plant in the western hemisphere. according to Desalcott.
