WateReuse는 응용 연구를 위한 글로벌 회사로 대체 급수 개발과 관련된 교육을 시행하고 있다. 이에 오는 9월 13∼16일 워싱턴주 시애틀의 Sheraton Seattle 호텔에서 30번 째 WateReuse 심포지엄을 개최할 예정이다. 이 심포지엄은 물 관련 전문가들과 기업 지도자들에게 물재이용 정책·운영·기술·대중의 인식 등 물 관련 사항에서 어떤 것이 옳고 그른가에 대한 지침을 제공할 방침이다.

이번 심포지엄에서는 △연합 건축 △물재이용의 가능성 △자금 △정책 및 법률 △세계적 물재이용 문제 △다음 세대로의 전환 등을 주제로 하며, 프로그램은 100개 이상의 발표, 패널 토론, 워크숍, 시설 및 전시관 투어로 진행된다.

 

WateReuse, a global organization for applied research, education and advocacy on alternative water supply development, will host its 30th Annual WateReuse Symposium on Sept. 13-16 at the Sheraton Seattle Hotel in Seattle, Wash. The event will bring together water managers and industry leaders to learn what's working, what's not and what's next in water reuse policy, operations, technology, and public perception.

The program will include more than 100 presentations, panel discussions, workshops, facility tours, and a popular exhibit hall. The topics covered at this year's Symposium will include coalition building, potable reuse, funding, policy and legislation, global water reuse, the next generation of communication, and more. Facility tours will also provide opportunities to see how water reuse technology is implemented locally, and networking events will give attendees to the opportunity share ideas and make new contacts.

The Symposium will also feature a keynote address from Brian Arbogast, who leads the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation's effort to bring groundbreaking innovations in sanitation technology and new ways to deliver sanitation products and services to people in the developing world. One of those innovations is a low-cost technology that can convert up to 14 tons of sewage into potable water and electricity each day using a blend of steam power and water filtration.

Among the highlights of the Symposium is a 3-hour boot camp on Sunday, Sept. 13, designed to give the nuts-and-bolts of organizing, developing, operating, or funding a water reuse program. Further, the event will end with a unique session that will give water managers and community leaders the tools needed to build support with citizens. Through a series of panels and specific instruction by Melissa Marshall, a Ted Talk alum, the audience will engage in exercises that focus on message development and delivery points that are effective in public engagement.
