Wastewater management contract awarded to VA Tech Wabag in Istanbul, Turkey
Indian water and wastewater company VA Tech Wabag has secured a $50 million a year contract from utility Istanbul Water and Sewage Administration (ISKI) to operate and manage the city¡¯s entire wastewater system.
The Hindu¡¯s BusinessLine reported that Wabag¡¯s Turkish subsidiary won the bid in an international tender and had previously been handling the operation and maintenance for over six months as part of a two-year contract that is extendable.
As part of the project to treat municipal and industrial effluent, three treatment plants will be built, as well as a 23 MW biogas power plant.
Earlier this month the Indian company won an EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) contract to supply a 40,000 m3/day wastewater treatment plant at Al Madina Al Shamaliya in Bahrain.
