물과 폐수 시장에서 미국 최대 규모를 차지하는 아메리칸 워터(American Water)의 자회사인 캘리포니아 아메리칸 워터(California American Water, CAW)는 메도브룩 워터(Meadowbrook Water)사를 인수하고, 서비스 지역 내 가정의 물 서비스를 담당하는 계약을 체결했다. 머시드 카운티(Merced County)에 본사를 둔 메도브룩(Meadowbrook)은 캘리포니아 공공 시설위원회에 의해 규제되고 있는 투자자 소유의 기업이다.

 

시스템 구입은 센트럴 밸리 주에 기반을 둔 CAW의 고객과 관련된 약 1천650개의 물 서비스를 추가로 연결될 전망이다. CAW는 현재 센트럴 밸리 주민의 1/3에 해당하는 약 60만 캘리포니아 주민들에게 물 서비스를 제공하고 있으며, 메도브룩의 고객들은 CAW사의 수처리 및 배수 전문가들에게 물 서비스를 공급받게 예정이다.

CA American Water signs contract to acquire Meadowbrook Water Company

California American Water (CAW) -- a subsidiary of American Water, the nation's largest publicly traded water and wastewater utility company -- has signed a contract to acquire the Meadowbrook Water Company and assume domestic water services within its service area. Meadowbrook, based in Merced County, is an investor-owned utility regulated by the California Public Utilities Commission.

 

The purchase of the systems will add approximately 1,650 water service connections to CAW's customer base in the state's Central Valley. CAW currently supplies water service to nearly 600,000 Californians about 1/3 of which are in the Central Valley. Meadowbrook customers will be served by the company's water treatment and distribution operators.

 

"As a result of this acquisition, Meadowbrook customers will have access to a range of customer services," said CAW's Director of Northern California Operations Audie Foster. "Our services include a customer service center available for emergencies, language translation, web self-service, paperless billing, and our H2O Help to Others Program, which provides Low Income Rate Assistance to customers, such as seniors, on low, fixed incomes and to families facing financial hardships."

 

She added, "California American Water's conservation programs, including in-home water-efficiency programs and rebates, will help Meadowbrook customers in their wise use of water." The purchase of Meadowbrook Water Company is underway, and CAW will be filing for approval with the California Public Utilities Commission.
