브로큰힐(Broken Hill)의 하루 6천㎥ 규모 담수화플랜트의 용량이 호주 소재의 기업 Osmoflo에 의해 증가될 전망이다. 이는 기존 클라이언트이자 플랜트의 소유자인 Essential Energy사를 위한 일괄적 해결책의 일부이다. 염수 및 높은 염분의 역삼투는 기술개선의 일부로 사용되며, 현장의 원격·지속적인 운영과 플랜트 설비 지원을 포함한다.

염수 및 높은 염분의 역삼투 기술을 이용한 플랜트 용량의 추가는 올해 11월에 완전하게 작동될 예정이다.

The Broken Hill 6000 m3/day desalination plant will undergo a capacity increase by Australian firm Osmoflo as part of a turnkey solution for existing client and plant owner, Essential Energy.

Brackish water and high salinity reverse osmosis (RO) technology will be used as part of the upgrade, which will include onsite and remote ongoing operations and maintenance support of the plant.

The re-instated plus additional RO capacity will be fully operational from November 2015.

Originally, Broken Hill’s existing chemical treatment plant was not able to remove the salt from the town’s main water source the then heavily evaporated Menindee Lakes.

Consultancy Arup was appointed initially appointed to review the effectiveness of transporting water by rail to Broken Hill from near Crystal Brook in South Australia ? a distance of 350km.

The predicted costs were said to be substantial so the RO plant was suggested as an alternative solution.
