지속적인 가뭄 가운데 베네수엘라 국영석유회사(PDVSA)의 Paraguana 정유는 생산량을 증가시키기 위해 2억5천만 달러 규모 플랜트의 세 번째 투자로 해수담수화 시설을 개선하고 있다. 플랜트는 Falcon의 성명에 따라 플랜트의 개선 후 하루 70M1 규모의 담수를 생산한하며, 해당 플랜트는 Carirubana시 Punta Cardon 지구의 물소비를 위해 담수화 된 물을 생산한다.

 

 

 

Amid a persistent severe drought, Venezuelan state oil company PDVSA's Paraguana refinery has upgraded its desalination facility to increase output by a third following investment in plant of some US$ 250 million.

 

After the upgrade the plant will produce desalinated water at close to 70 Ml/d according to a statement from Falcon state where the plant is sited. The plant, in the Punta Cardon district in the Carirubana municipality, is producing desalinated produced water for human consumption.

 

Northern and northwestern Venezuelan states, including Falcon, Vargas, Zulia, and Apure, been gripped by drought conditions for nearly two years. In response the government has been planning for additional desalination capacity - backed by technical and financial support from China - in Falcon's Los Taques municipality and other coastal areas.
