Enviro Water Minerals Company(EWM)사는 베올리아(Veolia)와 도시의 식수 공급을 향상시키기 위해 엘파소(El Paso)에 위치한 새로운 상업용 수처리 플랜트를 관리할 수 있는 10년간의 운영 및 유지보수 계약을 체결했다고 발표했다. EWM사는 케이 베일리 허치슨(KBH, Kay Bailey Hutchison) 담수화 플랜트 옆에 위치한 새로운 물생산 및 화학적 제조 시설에 대한 부지를 오염시키고 있으며, 이는 세계에서 가장 큰 담수화 플랜트이다.

 

이 폐수 무방류 시설은 EWM사의 최첨단기술을 갖췄으며 염수에서 역삼투 공정으로부터 담수화를 통해 미네랄을 회복하고 폐기물 염수를 충진한다.

 

 

 

Enviro Water Minerals Company (EWM) awarded Veolia a 10-year operations and maintenance agreement to manage its new commercial water plant in El Paso to enhance the city's supply of drinking water. EWM has broken ground on the new water production and chemical manufacturing facility located next to the city's Kay Bailey Hutchison (KBH) Desalination Plant, the world's largest inland desalination plant.

 

This zero-discharge wastewater facility will be equipped with EWM's cutting-edge technology to recover minerals and desalinated waste brine discharged from brackish water reverse osmosis (BWRO). The innovative plant will take the waste brine concentrate from the KBH Desalination Plant, extract and transform salts and minerals into commercial products, and produce more than two million gallons of drinkable water a day for the region.

 

Hubble Hausman, CEO of EWM, stated "Waste brine disposal has long been the Achilles' heel of inland desalination facilities. Our El Paso project will demonstrate that it is possible to produce multiple marketable chemical and mineral products from the waste brine while increasing the recovery of potable water and eliminating waste."

The EWM plant will create up to two million gallons per day of additional drinking water from the waste and help extend the life of the Hueco Bolson Aquifer for future generations. The project is a great example of cities and industry working together to benefit communities and the environment. Scheduled to begin operations in early 2017, the plant is estimated to have an economic impact of about $7.7 million in El Paso and create local jobs.
