바베이도스 현지언론인 네이션 뉴스(Nation News)의 보도에 따르면 바베이도스에 위치한 기존 담수화 플랜트의 용량이 향후 300만 갤런까지 확장될 예정이다.
언론은 바베이도스섬의 농림수자원관리부 David Eastwick 장관이 “수도청은 윌리엄스 인더스트리즈(Williams Industries)와 협약을 맺고 스프링 가든(Spring Garden)에 위치한 기존 담수화 플랜트를 추가적으로 300만 갤런까지 끌어낼 수 있도록 확장할 계획”이라고 밝혔다고 전했다.

Desalination capacity expanded in Barbados
The capacity of an existing desalination plant in Barbados will be expanded by three million gallons, according to local media outlet Nation News.
The website reports the island's minister of agriculture and water resource management, Dr David Eastwick, as saying; "The Water Authority has engaged Williams Industries, and the present desalination plant in Spring Garden will be expanded to pull out an additional three million gallons of water."
Eastwisk reportedly told the House of Assembly that two new packaged desalination plants are being delivered to the island this week by Williams Industries and Innotech.
Last December, speaking at a formal opening of the Barbados Water Authority's new headquarters, the minister said that the severity of water shortages on the island: "There is going to be no solution apart from desalination that will effectively address the challenges in the short to long term."
