영국 내 태양광 발전설비 설치가 최근 들어 슬럼프(slump)를 겪고 있다. 왜냐하면, 최근 개정된 재생에너지 의무증서 - 특히, 태양에너지 관련 인센티브(incentive) 제도 계획안이 개정됨 - 가 발표된 이후 그 여파로 인해 분기별 설치 활동이 불황을 겪고 있기 때문이다. 최근 개정된 재생에너지 의무증서는 2013년 4월 입법화되었다. 이로 인해 영국뿐만 아니라 유럽 전역의 태양광 발전기술 전망이 달라질 것으로 예측되고 있다.

NPD Solarbuzz에 의해 수행된 최신 시장보고서에 따르면, 2013년 4월부터 6월 동안 영국 내 태양광 발전설비 설치용량은 이전 해 같은 분기에 비해 46% 감소되었다. 왜냐하면, 지상형 부분(영역)은 재생에너지 의무증서 펀딩(funding)에서의 삭감에 의해 영향을 받았다.

2013년 최초 6개월 동안 106개의 신규 지상형 태양광 발전설비가 존재하였다. 그 설비의 발전용량은 1MW 이상이다. 이들 중 60개가 5MW 이상의 설치용량을 가지고 있으며, 8개는 10MW 이상이다.

지금까지 영국에서 가장 거대한 설치용량인 34MW에서 Lark Energy社의 프로젝트(project: 레스터셔(Leicestershire) 소재 RAF 공군기지 Wymeswold 이착륙장에서 수행)는 분석기간 동안 완료되었다.

연구진들은 2013년 1분기 동안 영국의 태양광 발전설비 수요량이 520MW 정도로 확인되었으며, 2분기 282MW의 수요량이 추가되었다. 그 결과, 800MW 이상에 처음 반 정도를 가져오게 되었다. SolarBuzz는 영국 내 올해 초부터 현재까지 수요량이 처음으로 GW 수준에 도달하였다. 그 결과, 영국을 GW 수준을 가지고 있는 최종 시장 영역으로 확인하였다.

전반적으로 이번 분석은 그 해 초기 반분기 동안 영국의 남부 지역이 대규모 태양광 발전단지를 지배하였다. 대규모 태양광 발전단지는 전체 대형 설치용량 중 67%를 가지고 있다. 잉글랜드(England) 동부와 중동부 지역은 27%를 설명(확인)하고 있다. 잉글랜드와 웨일즈(Wales) 나머지 전역을 가로질러 나머지 지역과 함께 존재한다.

 

이전에는 델케이드(Dalkeith)에 있던 Jewel & EskCollege에 존재하였던 스코틀랜드(Scotland) 내 가장 거대한 지상형 태양광 발전설비 설치는 2013년 1분기 동안 완료되었다.

영국 내 1.5GW 이상 규모의 지상형 태양광 발전단지들이 존재한다. 이 단지들은 성공적인 프로젝트 계획 적용 단계를 살펴보고 있다. 그리고 최종 파이낸싱(financing)을 기다리고 있다. 2013년 6월 말 누적 태양광 발전설비 설치용량을 보면, 반거주용이 2.71GW이며, 비거주용 지붕에 설치된 것이 22%, 그리고 나머지 28%는 지상형 태양광 발전설비이다.

During the first six months of 2013 there were 106 new ground-mounted PV installations with a capacity above 1 MW. Of these, 60 had an installed capacity of more than 5 MW and eight were above 10 MW.

 

At 34 MW, the UK’s largest installation to date, Lark Energy’s project at former RAF airbase Wymeswold Airfield in Leicestershire, was also completed during the analysis period.

 

The research notes that the UK’s PV demand during the first quarter of 2013 is confirmed at 520 MW whilst second quarter demand added a further 282 MW, bringing the first half to more than 800 MW.
