[영국] WPL, 스코티시워터 프레임워크 통해 수주량 증가

 

 

영국의 현장 폐수처리 전문기업인 WPL(www.wplinternational.com)은 지난 12개월 동안 스코틀랜드의 스코티시 워터(Scottish Water) 프레임워크(framework)를 통해 수주한 계약의 상승세를 보였다.

최근 2건의 계약 중 가장 큰 것은 윈치버그(Winchburgh) 확장 프로젝트에 처음 설치될 'WPL 하이브리드(Hybrid)-SAF' 기술 구매다.

웨스트 로디언(West Lothian)에서 빠르게 성장하는 이 주택 개발에서는 최소 3년 동안 유연한 모듈식 장치가 필요하지만, 최대 10년까지 사용할 수 있다. 현장이 건설 단계에있는 동안 과도한 유량과 하중을 처리해야 한다.

이 유닛(unit)은 윈치버그에 서비스를 제공하는 기존 공장과 병렬로 가동되며, 작품의 총 용량을 인구 등가 5천800명(PE)으로 하고, 중간 용량을 2천800PE로 제공해 2022년 6월까지 충분하다.

이 마을의 원래 3천 명의 인구는 2023년까지 8천243명으로 증가할 것으로 예상되므로, 스코티시 워터(Scottish Water)는 이미 제자리에 있는 침출 필터의 부하를 줄여야 한다.

 

 

 

기존 폐수 옆 부지를 대상으로 더 큰 규모의 폐수처리 공사가 새로 계획돼 2022년 말 가동에 들어갈 예정이다. 그것은 2032년까지 필요한 1만6천389 PE의 크기를 가질 것이다.

스코티시 워터(Scottish Water)는 현 부지가 수명이 다했으며 공익 사업자는 계속해서 성장하고 번창하면서 지역 사회를 지원하기 위한 새로운 작품을 만들고 싶어한다고 말한다.

장기적으로 'WPL Hybrid-SAF' 장치는 개조 중 또는 인구 증가로 인해 환경 준수를 보장하기 위해 추가 용량이 필요한 다른 현장에 이전될 수 있다.

유연한 자산에 대한 필요성은 애버딘셔(Aberdeenshire) 주 애버치어더(Aberchirder)에서 스코틀랜드 워터 프로젝트를 위한 원뿔형 탱크를 구입하기 위한 로스 샤이어 엔지니어링(Ross-shire Engineering)과의 두 번째 계약 뒤에 있었다.

이 시설은 처음에 기존의 활성화된 슬러지 공장을 개축하는 동안 지상 위에 임시 정착지를 제공한다.

완료 후 시설은 향후 사용을 위해 외부로 이동된다. 일시적·영구적으로 적용 시 현장 간 이동이 가능해 매입으로 자산을 취득하기로 했다.

스코티시 워터(Scottish Water)는 업그레이드가 수행되고 있는 다수의 소규모 부지를 가지고 있으며 탱크의 이전 가능성을 통해 유틸리티는 장기적으로 투자를 최적화할 수 있다.

WPL의 앤드루 헤이우드(Andrew Haywood) 유틸리티 판매관리자는 "이들 계약을 따낸 우리의 성공은 WPL의 폐수처리 시스템의 다재 다능성과 유연성을 보여주며 스코틀랜드 워터와의 긴밀한 관계를 지속하기를 기대한다"고 말했다.

우리 장비의 모듈형 특성은 새로운 개발에서건 원격 시골 작업에서건 가장 제한된 현장 발자국에 적합할 수 있다는 것을 의미한다.

앤드루 헤이우드(Andrew Haywood) 유틸리티 판매관리자는 이어 "WPL 하이브리드-SAF 장치는 나중에 다른 곳에서 사용할 수 있도록 오프사이트로 이전될 수 있으므로, 영구적인 시스템이 구축되면 좌초되는 자산이 없도록 해야 한다"면서 "이는 미국의 상하수도 수요에 대해 훨씬 더 장기적인 관점을 취할 투자전략에 대한 Scottish Water의 계획과 맞아떨어진다"고 말했다.

Double Scottish Wastewater Win For WPL

Onsite wastewater treatment specialist WPL has seen an upswing in contracts awarded through its Scottish Water framework in the last 12 months.

The largest of two recent contracts is for the purchase of WPL Hybrid-SAF technology to be installed initially on the Winchburgh expansion project.

The flexible, modular units are required for a minimum of three years at this fast-growing residential development in West Lothian, but could remain in use for up to ten.

They are required to treat excess flow and load whilst the site is in the construction phase.

The units will run in parallel with the existing plant serving Winchburgh, taking the total capacity of the works to 5,800 population equivalent (PE) and providing intermediate capacity of 2,800 PE, which will be sufficient up to June 2022.

The village’s original 3,000-strong population is expected to grow to 8,243 by 2023, so Scottish Water needs to reduce loading on the trickling filters already in place.

A new larger wastewater treatment works is planned for a site next to the existing one and will start operating by the end of 2022. It will be sized for the 16,389 PE required by 2032.

Scottish Water says the current site has come to the end of its life and the utility wants to build the new works to support the local community as it continues to grow and flourish.

In the longer term the WPL Hybrid-SAF units can be transferred to other sites where extra capacity is required to ensure environmental compliance during refurbishment or due to population growth.

The need for flexible assets was also behind a second contract with Ross-shire Engineering for the purchase of conical tanks for a Scottish Water project in Aberchirder, Aberdeenshire.

The units will initially provide temporary settlement above-ground during refurbishment of the existing activated sludge plant serving the village.

After completion, the assets will be moved offsite for potential future use. It was decided to acquire the assets by purchase because they can be moved from site-to-site for temporary or permanent applications.

Scottish Water has a number of smaller sites where upgrades are being carried out and the transferability of the tanks will ensure the utility optimises its investment over the long-term.

Andrew Haywood, utility sales manager, WPL said, “Our success in winning these contracts demonstrates the versatility and flexibility of WPL’s wastewater treatment systems and we look forward to continuing our close relationship with Scottish Water.

The modular nature of our equipment means it can fit into the most constrained site footprints, whether on new developments or at remote rural works.

“The WPL Hybrid-SAF units can be transferred offsite for use elsewhere at a later date, ensuring there will be no stranded assets once a permanent system is put in place.

"This fits with Scottish Water’s plans for a rolling investment strategy which will take a much more long-term perspective on the country’s water and wastewater needs.”
