수에즈(SUEZ)는 약 90만 파운드에 달하는 보조금으로 잉글랜드와 웨일즈의 물 서비스 규제 기관인 오프왓(Ofwat) 혁신기금의 ‘촉매 스트림상(Catalyst Stream prize)’을 수상한 획기적인 ‘수력 동심 스마트 수도계량기 프로젝트(Hydro Powered Concentric Smart Meter Project)’의 핵심 파트너 중 하나인 노섬브리아 워터 주식회사(Northumbrian Water Ltd. ; NWL)와 힘을 합쳤다.

스마트 수도계량기 데이터(smart meter data)의 지속적인 전송은 배터리 수명을 소모시키고 현재 수도계량기의 사용 수명을 줄인다. 이에 ‘수력 동심 스마트 수도계량기 프로젝트’는 물의 흐름을 활용하여 계량기에 무한한 동력원을 제공함으로써 이러한 한계를 극복하기 위한 것이다.

주요 이점으로는 △소비자 및 유틸리티 기업(공공수도사업자)을 위한 실시간 풍부한 데이터 제공 △소비 감소 및 누수 방지 개선 △물 절약 및 지속 가능성 향상 △유지보수 감소 △환경적으로 유해한 배터리 제거 등이 있다.

물과 폐기물의 순환 솔루션을 위한 신뢰할 수 있는 파트너인 수에즈는 소비자 소비 프로필에서 사용 패턴을 지능적으로 추론할 수 있는 AI 기반 분석 소프트웨어를 개발하여 프로젝트에 혁신적인 기여와 중추적인 역할을 수행한다.

또한 수에즈는 최적의 에너지 효율과 계량기 배터리 수명을 보장하는 저전력 계량기 데이터 전송기 개발의 배후에 있다. 수에즈는 최첨단 계측 테스트 센터(state-of-the-art metrology testing center)를 통해 시제품 장치 테스트도 담당하게 된다.

국제 및 다중 부문 파트너십(international and multi-sector partnership)으로 구성된 2년 프로젝트는 실현 가능성 및 발견을 포함한 아이디어 및 평가(ideation and evaluation), 비즈니스 사례 개발(business case development), 프로토 타입 디자인(prototype design), 빌드 및 테스트(build and testing) 등 여러 전달 단계를 통해 실행된다. 

국제 및 다중 부문 파트너십에는 수에즈와 함께 노섬브리아 워터(NWL), 옥토(OCTO), 하이드라오(Hydrao), 서든워터(Southern Water), PDL 솔루션(PDL Solutions), 제조기술센터(Manufacturing Technology Centre ; MTC), 프랑스 국립과학연구센터(French National Centre for Scientific Research), 신토텍(Synthotech) 등이 포함되어 있다.

SUEZ and NWL partner in Ofwat Innovation Fund winner Hydro Powered Concentric Smart Meter Project 

 

SUEZ proudly joins forces with Northumbrian Water Ltd. (NWL) as one of the key partners in the groundbreaking Hydro Powered Concentric Smart Meter Project, the recipient of the Ofwat1) Innovation Fund’s Catalyst Stream prize, with a grant amounting to nearly ￡900,000.

Constant transmission of smart meter data drains battery life and reduces the usable life of current smart meters. The Hydro Powered Concentric Smart Meter Project is set to overcome these limitations by harnessing the flow of water to provide unlimited power source for the meter. 

Among its key benefits include live, rich data for consumers and utilities; reduced consumption and improved leak prevention; water savings and enhanced sustainability; reduced maintenance; and elimination of environmentally harmful batteries.

SUEZ, the trusted partner for circular solutions in water and waste, plays an innovative contribution and a pivotal role in the project by developing an AI-based analysis software that can intelligently infer usage patterns from consumer consumption profiles.

The two-year project, which is composed of an international and multi-sector partnership2) , will be executed through several delivery phases including feasibility and discovery; ideation and evaluation; business case development; prototype design, build, and testing.
