러시아 수자원 장관과 the Union of Watermen & Irrigators.의 부통령을 역임한 Polad Polad-zade에 따르면 아초프해의 바닷물 담수화는 최근 러시아 연방공화국에 합병된 크림반도에 물을 공급하기 위한 최고의 자원중 하나이다.

4월 18일 뉴스 웹사이트인 Vestnik Kavkaza와 대화에서 Polad-zade는 러시아는 물 공급과 폐기물 제거를 포함하는 유지시설의 문제에 대한 크림 공화국 안건에 주목한다고 밝혔다.

Desalination of water from the Azov Sea could be one of the best sources for a water supply to Crimea, recently annexed by the Russian Federation, according to Polad Polad-zade, former USSR minister of water resources and deputy president of the Union of Watermen & Irrigators.

Speaking to the Caucasus news website Vestnik Kavkaza on 18 April 2014, Polad-zade said that joining the Russian Federation brought onto Crimea's agenda questions of maintaining infrastructure, including water supply and waste remove "Desalination is not the most expensive option," he is quoted as saying.
