세계 주요 유람선 중 하나인 퀸 메리2호가 선박 오염에 대한 국제해운기구(IMO)의 조건을 충족하기 위해 멤브레인 바이오액터(MBR) 폐수처리 시스템을 장착했다.

계약은 지난 2014년 3분기에 Cunard Line에 의해 수주됐다. 현재 장착되어 있는 선상 시스템은 이제 교체될 예정이며, 두 개의 Wartsila Hamworthy MBR 16 시스템이 선박의 높은 환경 기준을 유지하는 데에 선정됐다.

 

 

 

One of the world’s major cruise ships, the Queen Mary 2, is being fitted with a Membrane BioReactor (MBR) wastewater treatment system to help meet International Maritime Organization (IMO) requirements for ship pollution.

 

The contract was awarded by Cunard Line during the third quarter, 2014. The existing on-board system is now due for replacement and two Wartsila Hamworthy MBR 16 systems have been selected to maintain the ship’s high environmental standards.

 

The Wartsila Hamworthy MBR solutions are designed to facilitate the management and treatment of both ‘grey’ and ‘black’ wastewater, and to monitor discharges to the sea.
 
Cunard’s 2620 passenger capacity Queen Mary 2 entered service in 2004 and was designed with the aim of reducing the vessel’s impact on the environment through more efficient management of waste.

Juha Kytola, vice president, environmental solutions, Wartsila Ship Power, said: “Environmental performance is of ever increasing importance throughout the marine industry, but especially so for cruise ships and ferries.”
