[미국] IL, 고도 UV살균기술로 식수 보호 향상

일리노이주 테일러빌(Taylorville)시가 식수를 보호하려는 노력으로 최근 새 식수처리시설에 고도 UV살균기술을 도입했다. 넵튠벤손(Neptune Benson)의 ETS UV 시스템은 여과된 물을 100% 처리하며, ‘염소 내성적(chlorine-tolerant)’ 병원균을 효과적으로 처리하고, EPA ‘UVDGM & NSF/ANSI Standard 61’기준에 적합하다.

UV 살균은 종종 크립토스포르디움(Cryptosporidium)과 같은 염소 내성적 병원균을 비활성화시키기 위해 염소와 함께 사용된다. 염소와 UV 살균이 함께 사용되면 식수를 더욱 높은 단계로 보호할 수 있다.

In an effort to better protect its drinking water, the city of Taylorville, Ill., recently incorporated advanced ultraviolet (UV) disinfection technology at its new drinking water treatment facility.

Provided by Neptune Benson, a specialist in water filtration and disinfection in the municipal, industrial and recreational water markets, the company's ETS UV system treats 100 percent of filtered water, is effective against "chlorine-tolerant" pathogens, and is validated per EPA UVDGM & NSF/ANSI Standard 61.

UV disinfection is often used in conjunction with chlorine to deactivate chlorine-resistant pathogens like Cryptosporidium. When used together, chlorine and UV disinfection provide a high level of protection to drinking water. UV disinfection deactivates illness-causing microorganisms by destroying their genetic material. Once destroyed, the microorganisms cannot reproduce and eventually die.

"ETS UV by Neptune Benson was selected following a competitive evaluation based on: The ease of maintenance on the system, excellent references from another Illinois installation, and the availability of customer service and support." said Jon McClean, president of ETS UV by Neptune Benson.

The City of Taylorville system has been fully validated in accordance with the requirements of the EPA Design Guidance Manual, and the ETS UV is manufactured at the Neptune Benson facility in the city of Beaver Dam, Wis.
