사우디아라비아 담수청(Saline Water Conversion Corporation, SWCC)은 11억 ㎥ 이상으로 지난 한 해 동안의 담수 산출량을 전년 대비 10%로  올렸다. 수전력청(Water and Electricity)의 장관과 SWCC의 회장 Abdullah Al-Hussayyen은 기업 연례 보고서의 서문을 통해 Ras Al-Khair 플랜트의 첫 번재 단계로 나라 모든 지역의 식수 수요를 충당하기 위한 기업 능력 강화를 제시했다.

Al-Hussayyen은 정부의 무제한 지원을 통한 정부의 해수담수화 산업의 급속한 발전을 높게 평가했다. 장관은 사우디 산업의 발전에서 주바일 담수화 기술 연구소(Jubail Institute for Research and Desalination Technologies)의 과학기술개발 및 투자의 구현과 역할의 중요성에 대해 언급했다.

Saudi Arabia's Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC) upped its desalinated water output during the past last year by 10% on the previous year to more than 1.1 billion m³.

Minister of Water and Electricity and chairman of the SWCC Abdullah Al-Hussayyen said in his foreword to the corporation's annual report that the start of production at the first phase of the Ras Al-Khair plant would strengthen the corporation's ability to cover drinking water needs of all regions of the Kingdom.

Al-Hussayyen praised the rapid development in the desalination industry which he attributed to unlimited support by the government. The minister went to say the implementation of scientific and technical developments and investment by Jubail Institute for Research and Desalination Technologies also played a significant part in the Saudi industry's development.

SWCC governor, Abdul Rahman Al-Ibrahim, said the volume of desalinated water pumped from the eastern province stations totalled 550.1 million m³, and formed 49.7% of the total output, supplying the eastern region, Riyadh, Qassim, Sudair and Washem provinces. 

In the western region, the SWCC produced 557.5 million m³ and represented 50.3% of the total. Areas it supplied included Makkah, Jeddah and Madinah.
