Hitachi to merge RO membrane and water engineering businesses in Singapore
Japanese company Hitachi has said it will merge its reverse osmosis (RO) membrane manufacturing division with its water facility engineering business.
As part of the merge, the company¡¯s Hitachi Aqua-Tech membrane manufacturing business will combine with Aqua Works and Engineering.
Following the merger, which is scheduled to take place on April 1, the resulting company will be called Hitachi Aqua-Tech.
After the merger, Hitachi Aqua-Tech has set out the aim for annual revenues of approximately 38 million Singapore dollars (approx. 3 billion yen) by 2018 in Asia and island countries, with a particular focus on Singapore and the Maldives.
Hitachi said it expects to see an increase in demand for RO membrane systems at resorts, commercial buildings and emerging countries in Asia.
