[미국] 신규 CDC 툴킷, 건물주·관리자에게 레지오넬라균 정보 제공

미국에서 레지오넬라균 감염이 2000년부터 2014년까지 4배나 증가했다. CDC 조사관들은 이 질병의 발생이 일반적으로 상수도 시설문제 때문이며, 이 외에도 온수욕조, 식수대, 냉각탑 등이 원인으로 꼽힌다고 밝혔다. 따라서 레지오넬라균의 번식과 확산의 위험을 증가시키는 빌딩 또는 관계시설을 교체하는 빠른 대응과 면밀한 관찰이 필수적으로 요구된다.

레지오넬라균 발병대응으로 CDC는 툴킷 재원을 개발했다. ‘빌딩에서 레지오넬라균 번식과 확산을 줄이기 위한 물관리 개발 : 산업기준에 실행하기 위한 유용한 안내’라고 불리는 이 툴킷은 건물주와 관리자에게 가이드를 제공한다.

New CDC Toolkit Provides Imperative Legionella Information for Building Owners and Managers

Cases of Legionnaires’ disease in the United States grew by nearly four times from 2000 through 2014. CDC investigations show that outbreaks of this disease are due to common problems with water system maintenance and come from a number of sources such as potable water, hot tubs and cooling towers. It is therefore essential to closely monitor and quickly respond to changes in building or facility water that may increase the risk of Legionella growth and spread.

In response to Legionella outbreaks, the CDC has developed a resource toolkit, “Developing a Water Management Program to Reduce Legionella Growth & Spread in Buildings: A Practical Guide to Implementing Industry Standards.” This toolkit gives guidance to building owners and managers about:

-Which buildings and devices need a Legionella water management program
-Elements of a good water management program and direction for developing one
-The part(s) of a building that are at increased risk for growing and spreading Legionella
-Scenarios they might encounter with water quality problems and how to respond to them to help reduce the risk of Legionella
