[이스라엘] 국가적 수자원 시스템과 담수화 공장 연결

이스라엘 수도공사 Mekorot가 아슈도드(Ashdod)의 담수화 공장과 소레크(Soreq)와 팔마힘(Palmachim)의 공장을 연결하는 파이프를 놓았다고 글로브(Globe)지가 밝혔다.

길이 10km, 단면 직경 2.5m의 이 파이프라인은 하루 당 3만㎥의 물을 수송할 수 있으며, 서해안의 가스 파이프라인과 함께 작동될 예정이다.

이번 프로젝트는 6천만 달러에 해당하는 사업으로, 이스라엘 전역 34개의 염수·해수담수화 공장을 비롯해 국가적 수자원 시스템을 건설하는 7억8천만 달러 프로젝트 계획의 일부다.

이스라엘 수도공사Mekorot의 책임자 Ronit Alkalay는 “소레크(Soreq)와 팔마힘(Palmachim)의 물은 올 겨울 내로 남·북부 지역과의 직접적인 연결이 가능할 것이다”라고 말했다.

이스라엘 수도공사는 이스라엘 정부 소유이며, 이스라엘 식수의 80%와 한 해 당 1만5천억㎥에 이르는 자국 내 전반적인 물 수요의 70%를 공급한다.

Israel connects desalination plants into national water system

Mekorot National Water Company of Israel is laying a pipe to connect the desalination plant in Ashdod, with plants in Soreq and Palmachim, reports Globes.

The 10 kilometre long, 2.5 meter diameter section of pipeline will have the capacity to carry 30,000㎥/hour of water, and runs alongside a gas pipeline on the west coast.

The NIS 230 million ($60million) project is one piece of a much bigger, NIS 3 billion ($780 million) scheme to build a nationwide water system, to which all 34 of Israel's desalination brackish and seawater desalination plants will be connected.

“Water from Soreq and Palmachim could be directed to the south, towards the Hafetz Haim reservoir and Jerusalem, or to the north during the winter” Mekorot project manager, Ronit Alkalay, told Globes.

Mekorot National Water Company is owned by the Israeli government and supplies 80 percent of Israel's drinking water and 70 percent of the country's overall water needs, amounting to 1,500billion㎥/y.
