[미국] 로토크, 미시간 수자원회수시설에 유량제어기기 제공키로

로토크(Rotork)가 미국 미시간주에 있는 수자원 회수 시설에 유량 제어 기기를 제공한다.

로토크는 지난 2월 4일 미국 미시간주 이스트랜싱에 위치한 수자원 회수 시설(Water Resource Recovery Facility, WRRF)에 ‘IQT’ 회전 전동 액추에이터를 제공한다고 밝혔다.

해당 수자원 회수 시설은 활성슬러지/3차여과 시설로서 매일 약 1천875만 갤런의 물을 처리할 수 있는 용량을 갖추고 있으며, 이스트랜싱시는 물론 미시간주립대학교(Michigan State University) 및 메리디안 차터 타운십(Meridian Charter Township)의 하·폐수도 처리하고 있다.

이에 로토크는 IQ18, IQ25, IQT-125, 500, 1000 및 2000을 비롯해 다양한 IQ3 및 IQT3 범위의 부분 회전 전동 액추에이터로 구성된 100개 이상의 액추에이터를 제공키로 했다. 유량 제어 밸브, 수문 게이트, 볼 제어 밸브, AWWA 버터플라이 밸브 및 편심 플러그 밸브 작동을 포함해 다양하고 중요한 역할을 하는 장치들이다.

이들 액추에이터는 정확한 유량을 제어할 수 있다는 것이 큰 특징이다. 단순한 여닫기 기능을 넘어 밸브와 게이트를 정확한 위치로 이동시켜 프로세스 흐름을 완벽하게 제어할 수 있다. 이러한 조절 서비스 외에도 새로운 소화조 공정에서 분석 서비스 제공도 가능하다.

로토크가 이스트랜싱시로부터 액추에이터 공급 주문을 받은 것이 처음은 아니다. 앞서 로토크는 지난 2016년 시 수자원 회수시설에 약 50개의 IQ3 지능형 통합 전동 액추에이터를 제공했다. 회사 관계자는 “에이전트사인 시스템 스페셜티(Systems Specialties) 도움으로 입지를 더 확대할 수 있을 것으로 기대한다”고 밝혔다.

Rotork provide control of flow at water resource recovery facility

Rotork IQT part-turn electric actuators have been specified for use at the Water Resource Recovery Facility (WRRF) in East Lansing, Michigan USA. This activated sludge/tertiary filtration plant has the capacity to process approximately 18.75 million gallons of water every single day and provides wastewater treatment for the City of East Lansing, Michigan State University and the Meridian Charter Township.

Over 100 actuators have been ordered, consisting of various IQ3 and IQT3 range part-turn electric actuators, including the IQ18, IQ25, IQT-125, 500, 1000 and 2000. These actuators serve a variety of vital roles, including the operation of flow control valves, sluice gates, ball control valves, AWWA butterfly valves and eccentric plug valves. They were installed alongside IW Mk2 quarter-turn worm gearboxes.

The actuators are able to accurately control the exact amount of flow. Going beyond simple open/close functions, they can move the valves and gates to exact positions to provide complete control of flow in the process. In addition to this modulating service, the actuators also provide an isolating service in a new digester process. The digester process breaks down the waste material to produce biogas and the actuators ensure that the flow of municipal wastewater can be stopped, should it be necessary to do so.

These new installations were not the first Rotork actuators on site. With an installed base of IQTs connected through DeviceNet and an additional installation of around 50 IQ3 intelligent integral non-intrusive electric actuators and IQTs in 2016, Rotork has a strong presence at East Lansing WRRF and it is expected to grow with future developments with the assistance of agent Systems Specialties.
