[미국] 샴페인 카운티 지구, 3년 연속 수질 테스트 1위

일리노이 아메리칸 워터(Illinois American Water)의 샴페인 카운티 지구(Champaign County District)는 최근 15개 카운티 상수도 운영 협회가 진행하는 수질 테스트 대회에서 1위를 차지했다고 밝혔다. 샴페인 카운티 지구의 마티스(Mattis) 수처리 공장은 수질의 맛·냄새·투명도 등에서 3년 연속 1위의 영예를 안게 됐다.

 

지역 우승자인 샴페인 카운티 지구는 오는 6월에 열리는 미국 수도 협회(AWWA)의 연례 회의 및 박람회(ACE22) 기간 동안 전국 최고의 수질 테스트에서 또 한 번의 경쟁을 하게 된다. 샴페이 카운티 지구는 주 대표로 참가해 지역을 대표할 예정이다.

 

브라이언 위머스(Brian Wiemers) 운영 수석 관리자는 “우리가 매일 가정과 기업에 제공하는 수질에 큰 자부심을 느낀다”고 말하며 “지역 테스트에서 우승은 물론 각 주와 국가 수준에서  경쟁할 수 있는 기회는 우리 팀이 지역 사회에 대한 헌신을 보여줄 수 있는 기회”라고 밝혔다.

Illinois American Water’s Champaign County Team Winner of Regional Water Taste Test for Third Year in a Row

 

Urbana, Ill. (Feb. 21, 2022) — Illinois American Water’s Champaign County District recently placed first in the 15-County Water Supply Operator Association’s water taste test competition. A water sample from the local Mattis Water Treatment Plant was the winning entry. Water samples were judged on taste, odor and clarity.

 

This is the third year in a row, and the fifth time overall, in which the local water team has earned this recognition.  The team earned the award in 2005, 2006, 2019, and 2020 as well. The competition was not held in 2021 due to COVID-19.  In 2005 and 2006, the team was also recognized with the National Best of the Best title.

 

As the regional winner, Illinois American Water’s Champaign County District team will represent the region in the statewide taste test competition.  The state competition will be held next month during the Illinois Section of the American Water Works Association’s (AWWA) Conference, WATERCON 2022, in Springfield. The winner of the state competition will compete in AWWA’s national Best of the Best water taste test held during AWWA’s Annual Conference and Exposition (ACE22) in June. Water professionals across the county will gather at ACE22 where the best-tasting tap water in North America will be declared.
