[싱가포르] 국제물협회, 싱가포르물협회와 싱가포르 젊은 물 전문가 양성 MOU 체결

국제물협회(IWA)와 싱가포르물협회(SWA)는 IWA-SWA 싱가포르 젊은 물 전문가(WA-SWA Singapore Young Water Professionals, YWP) 모임을 창설하고 젊은 물 전문가 양성을 위한 양해각서를 체결했다고 밝혔다. 이 모임에서는 WASH(물 및 위생) 발전 분야의 선도적인 국가인 싱가포르에 기반을 둔 젊은 물 전문가들에게 많은 기회를 제공할 것이다.

IWA와 SWA 간의 양해각서(MoU)는 각 조직의 비전과 목적 간의 시너지 영역을 강화하기 위해 마련됐다.

이 MOU를 통해 두 기관은 각각의 네트워크를 연결하고 물 관리 개선을 위한 공동 조치를 모색한다. 보다 구체적인 목표는 다음과 같다.

- 싱가포르와 동남아시아에서 YWP를 위한 지식 교환 및 네트워킹 기회를 가능하게 하는 이벤트를 협력하고 촉진한다.

- 양 협회의 광범위한 물 전문가 네트워크 내에서 연결 및 지식 공유를 촉진하여 역량 구축 및 전문성 개발을 강화한다.

- 싱가포르 국제 물 주간(SIWW) 및 IWA의 세계 물 회의/물 및 개발 회의에서 IWA YWP 및 SWA YWP 회원의 참여를 장려한다.

- IWA-SWA 싱가포르 YWP 챕터의 활동을 위한 작업 계획의 개발 및 구현을 지원한다.

카라니시 바이라바무시 (Kalanithy Vairavamoorthy) IWA 전무이사는 “IWA는 싱가포르의 물 부문 동료들과의 매우 강력한 관계를 소중히 여기며, 이러한 연결을 더욱 확장하고 새로운 공동 IWA-SWA를 통해 젊은 물 전무가를 지원할 수 있게 된 것을 매우 기쁘게 생각한다"고 말했다.

SWA 젊은 물 전문가 위원회 의장이자 SWA 위원회 위원인 쿠날 샤(Kunal Shah)는 "두 협회 사이의 협력으로, 우리는 물이 탄력 있는 세상을 건설하고 싱가포르와 동남아시아에 적용할 수 있는 국경을 넘는 학습을 가능하게 하기 위한 관련 도구로 미래의 물 지도자들에게 힘을 실어주기를 희망한다. 젊은 물 전문가들이 해야 할 역할이 더 크고, 이번 협력은 이 목표를 달성하기 위한 아이디어 교환을 지원하는 데 도움이 될 것"이라고 말했다.

New joint IWA-SWA Singapore Young Water Professionals Chapter

The International Water Association(IWA) and the Singapore Water Association (SWA) are pleased to welcome creation of the newly established joint IWA-SWA Singapore Young Water Professionals Chapter. The chapter will offer many opportunities dedicated to young water professionals based in Singapore, a leading country in the field of WASH advancements.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between IWA and SWA has been signed in April 2022 to enhance areas of synergy between the respective organisational visions and purposes.

Through this MoU, the two organisations seek to connect their respective networks and identify joint actions to enable improved water management. More specifically, the two aim:

- To collaborate and facilitate events that enable knowledge exchange and networking opportunities for YWPs in Singapore and South-East Asia.

- To enhance capacity building and professional development through facilitating connections and knowledge-sharing within both Associations’ broader networks of water professionals.

- To encourage the participation of IWA YWP & SWA YWP members in the Singapore International Water Week (SIWW) and IWA’s World Water Congress/Water & Development Congress.

- To support the development and implementation of a workplan for the IWA-SWA Singapore YWP Chapter’s activities.

IWA Executive Director Dr Kala Vairavamoorthy commented: “IWA values our very strong relationships with water sector colleagues in Singapore, and we are extremely pleased to be able to extend these connections further and to support Young Water Professionals through creation of the new joint IWA-SWA Chapter.”

Mr Kunal Shah, Chair of SWA Young Water Professionals Committee and Council Member of SWA,  added: “With the collaborations between the two Associations, we hope to empower future water leaders with relevant tools to build a water resilient world and more importantly enable cross border learning applicable for Singapore and South East Asia. The young water professionals have a bigger role to play and this cooperation will help support exchange of ideas to achieve this goal.”
