맥일바인(McIlvaine) 사가 자사 출판물 'Ultrapure Water World Markets'에 게시한 새로운 연구에 따르면 울트라퓨어 수처리 기술을 제공하는 공급업체들의 총 수익이 2014년에 44억 달러에 이르게 되면서 발전 산업에서 가장 큰 수요자로 떠오를 것으로 예측된다.

울트라퓨어 수처리는 정화, 필터링, 유기물 제거 등 각종 다양한 산업적 공정에 필요한 기술이다. 이 기술은 처리과정에서 오염이 발생하지 않도록 하기 위해서 교체 멤브레인, 금속교환 수지 등의 특수한 소모재를 필요로 한다. 최근에는 금속교환 수지를 대체하는 전자 비이온화 공정 등의 새로운 추세도 있어 왔다. 정화 화학물질의 제거 및 대체 합성수지 등의 방안은 운영과 환경, 두 측면에 있어서 이롭다고 평가된다.

July 15, 2013 -- A new study by the McIlvaine Company in their publication, "Ultrapure Water World Markets," reveals that suppliers of ultrapure water technologies will generate revenues of $4.4 billion in 2014, with the power industry being the largest purchaser. 

Ultrapure water is needed for a variety of industrial applications including filtration, purification and degassing steps. Special materials are required to ensure that no contamination is created in the processing, and consumables such as replacement membranes and ion-exchange resins are needed. There has also been a recent trend toward electrodeionization as a replacement for ion-exchange. The elimination of cleaning chemicals and the replacement resins is advantageous from both an operating and environmental perspective.

The findings conculde that East Asia is a fast growing market as there are many new semiconductor plants. China will install more new coal-fired boilers each year than all of Europe, Africa and the Americas combined. Major pharmaceutical companies are establishing generics manufacturing in China and other East Asian countries.
