[몰타] Itron사, 스마트워터그리드 프로젝트 추진
                                          
지중해 이탈리아 남부 섬 국가인 몰타에서 40만명 주민과 1백만명 관광객에게 물 공급을 담당하고 있는 몰타상수도서비스협회(Malta Water Service Corp. WSC)는 스마트워터 그리드 프로그램 추진을 위하여 Itron사와 추가 계약을 체결했다.

스마트워터그리드 추진을 위한 측정기기의 설치는 1차적으로 12만개소 설치가 완료됐으며 이번 계약으로 3만3천개소에 추가 설치할 예정이다. 이에 따라 플랜트 운영상의 효율 증대와 고객서비스 제공의 품질을 높일 수 있게 된다.

몰타는 자연 수자원이 점차 줄어들어 주민들에게 안전한 물 공급이 중요한 정부과제로 부상되고 있으며 이번 Itron사와의 안정적이고 정확성이 있는 스마트워터 메터링 계약으로 몰타 주민들에게 운전성능 증대와 시스템 안전성 개선, 사용량의 효과적 관리 등의 혜택을 제공한다.

 

Malta's Water Services Corporation (MWSC), a water provider to 400,000 residents and over 1 million annual tourists in the Mediterranean's island of Malta, has expanded its contract with Itron, Inc. (NASDAQ: ITRI), a technology and services company, as a part of its nationwide water grid.

As part of the smart water grid program, the meters are helping to increase operational efficiency and improve customer service in the region. Accordingly, MWSC has successfully installed 120,000 Itron smart water meters and has signed a contract for an additional 33,000.

Lacking significant natural water resources, Malta is faced with the challenge of delivering an affordable, secure water supply to its residents. Itron's reliable, accurate smart water metering technology provides a foundation for the island to improve operational efficiency, increase system reliability and enable residents to track and manage their consumption activity, ultimately allowing for better management of precious water reserves
