$1.7 million to support water services for Clinton biofuel facility
The City of Clinton has received $1.7 million from the United States Economic Development Administration to construct water and wastewater infrastructure to support the new Chemtex cellulosic biofuel plant in the City of Clinton.
This project will utilize energy grasses to be grown by local farmers and produce up to 20 million gallons per year of ethanol and bio-based chemicals. Feedstock known as ¡°Arundo Donax¡± was approved in June 2013 for the biofuel.
Anticipated to create 65 jobs created and leverage $90 million in private investment, the total project cost is $3.5 million.
Congressman Mike McIntyre said: ¡°Good quality water is vital to every home and business. These federal funds will help bring water services to the new state-of-the-art biofuels plant in Clinton and help us create jobs in the local community.
