응용연구 및 교육, 대체수자원 개발 지원을 위한 글로벌 조직인 WateReuse(WR) 이사회가 총 600만 달러 가치에 달하는 13개의 새 연구 프로젝트 자금지원을 최근 승인했다. 프로젝트는 재활용수의 처리·유통·허가를 향상시키기 위해 고안된 넓은 이슈 스펙트럼(spectrum of issues)을 포함하고 있다.

새 프로젝트 중 9개는 WR 연구재단의 기초 프로그램 하에 기금이 조성됐으며, 이는 연구 계약자가 경쟁 과정을 통해 선정될 예정이라는 점을 의미한다. 나머지 4개 프로젝트는 맞춤형 협업(Tailored Collaboration) 프로그램에서 자금을 지원하며, 협회 구성원들을 대상으로 연구를 위한 자금을 수여할 예정이다.

 

 

 

The board of directors for WateReuse (WR), a global organization for applied research, education and advocacy on alternative water supply development, recently approved funding for 13 new research projects valued at nearly $6 million. The projects represent a broad spectrum of issues all designed to improve the treatment, distribution and acceptance of recycled water.

 

Nine of the new projects are funded under the WR Research Foundation's Principal Program, which means research contractors will be selected through a competitive process. Four of the projects are funded under the Tailored Collaboration (TC) program, which allows Foundation members to propose and receive funding for research.

 

WR is investing $1.5 million in Principal projects and $460,000 in TC projects, and the balance of the funding comes from in-kind support. Eight of the projects are funded through the Direct Potable Reuse (DPR) Initiative, an ongoing effort to advance DPR as a water supply option. The remaining research projects address industrial reuse, agricultural reuse, desalination, and regulatory issues.

 

Accordingly, WR will establish a technical peer review committee for each new project, and requests for proposals will be released for the Principal projects later this year. Technical experts interested in supporting the peer review of the new projects can submit an application to the Research Foundation.
