[영국] 바이워터, 모르코 아우리르에 하수처리장 건설

영국의 수처리 서비스 회사인 바이워터(Biwater)가 모로코의 아우리르(Aourir)에 새로운 하수처리장을 건설키로 했다.

모르코 아우리르(Aourir)는 번성하는 관광산업뿐만 아니라 지역 주민의 수가 늘어남에 따라 도시는 현재 및 미래의 개발 요구를 충족시키는 하수처리 시설을 필요로 했다.

이에 바이워터(Biwater)는 6만 명의 지역 주민과 기존 호텔을 대상으로 하는 새로운 하수처리 시설 건설을 완료했다. 그러나, 이 처리장은 2030년까지의 설계 기간과 하루 1,900만 리터(1만9천㎥)의 총 처리용량(MLD)으로 미래의 필요를 충족시키기 위해 아직 건설 중인 시설들도 있다.

도시 건너편에는 도시의 확장 계획에 대한 명확한 표시가 있다. 새로운 호텔 체인과 리조트는 건설을 위한 중간 단계이며, 다른 구역에도 향후 프로젝트를 위한 부지가 지정되어져 있다.

주요 서핑 명소 및 개발중인 지역 옆에 위치한 이 프로젝트의 핵심 요구사항은 엄격한 악취 제어 프로세스 및 하수 재사용을 위한 하수의 3차 처리이다. 설치 및 운영중인 이 처리장은 마을, 호텔 및 골프 코스 주변의 녹색 잔디 등에 물을 공급하여 하게 된다.

바이워터 모르코(Biwater Morocco)의 야신 라이프(Yassine Laib) 지역 책임자는 "이 프로젝트는 모로코의 새로운 벤치 마크를 설정하여 하·폐수처리 및 처리수 재사용 솔루션을 제공한다. 이 것은 아름다운 도시에 지어졌고, 플랜트로서 또한 인상적이고 주변 환경과 조화를 이룬다. 처리된 물은 수질기준을 이하로 내보내 해변에 있는 서퍼(surfers)와 수영자들(swimmers)에게 영향을 받지 않도록 한다”고 말했다.

Biwater commissons new wastewater treatment plant in Aourir, Morocco

Water treatment services company Biwater has commissioned a new wastewater treatment plant in Aourir, Morocco.

With an expanding local population, as well as a thriving tourist industry, the town required a wastewater treatment facility to meet current and future development needs.

Biwater has completed the construction of a new wastewater treatment plant that will serve 60,000 local residents and existing hotels. However, the plant has also been built to cater for future needs with a design horizon of 2030 and a total treatment capacity of 19 million litres per day (MLD).

Across the town there are clear indications of the city’s expansion plans; new hotel chains and resorts are mid-way through construction and other sites have been earmarked for future projects.

Located next to prime surf spots and areas under development, key requirements for the project were strict odour control processes and the tertiary treatment of wastewater for reuse applications. Up and running, the plant now provides reuse water for green planted areas around the town, hotels and golf courses.

Biwater Morocco country manager Yassine Laib said: “This project sets a new benchmark for Morocco, providing a turnkey wastewater and reuse solution. It has been built in a beautiful town, and as a plant it also looks impressive and in keeping with its surroundings. The water from the plant exceeds treatment quality standards, ensuring that surfers and swimmers on the beaches alongside are not impacted.”
