[사우디] NWC, 일본 후지클린과 수처리 기술 현지화 위한 MOU 체결

하수처리 기술 현지화로 고품질 재이용수 생산 기대

사우디아라비아 국영 수자원공사(National Water Company, NWC)는 일본 후지클린(FujiClean)과 후지클린의 하수처리 기술 이전, 현지화 및 개발을 위한 상호 협력과 이를 국제상품으로 등록하는 것을 골자로 하는 양해각서를 체결했다고 밝혔다.

지난해 12월 24일 만수르 아부트네인(Mansour Abuthnain) NWC 프로젝트 및 기술 서비스 부서의 전무와 고토 마사시(Masashi Goto) 후지클린의 부사장은 MOU를 체결했다.

만수르 아부트네인 전무는 "이번 MOU는 하수처리 기술 현지화 및 물산업 발전과 효율을 향상시키기 위해 모든 지역 및 국제 기관과 협력하기 위한 노력의 일환"이라며 "일본의 신기술은 원격지나 분산된 인구 밀집 지역에서 분산형으로 사용할 수 있어 넓은 면적이 필요없는 것이 특징이다. 식생 개발, 사막화 방지, 환경 기준 달성, 지속가능성 기준에 부합하는 현대 기술 도입 등을 목표로 하는 사우디 녹색 이니셔티브(SGI) 및 중동 녹색 이니셔티브(MEGI)에 따라 재이용 가능한 고품질의 처리수를 생산함으로써 사우디의 위생 확대에 도움이 될 것"이라고 말했다.

또한 만수르 아부트네인 전무는 "NWC가 일본 측과 협력해 후지클린이 사용하는 기술을 강화하고 현지화하는 프로그램을 시행하는 것을 목표로 하고 있다"며 "이는 NWC에서 일하는 엔지니어와 기술자를 위한 교육 프로그램을 만들고, 현지 및 국제 부분과 공동으로 현재의 기술과 국가 인력을 개발하는 방식으로 이뤄질 것"이라고 덧붙였다.

NWC and the Japanese company FujiClean sign a MoU to localize water treatment technologies

The National Water Company (NWC) and FujiClean, a Japanese LLC, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at mutual cooperation in the transfer, localization and development of the wastewater treatment technologies manufactured by FujiClean and registering them in the Kingdom as an international product to enable their use in wastewater treatment in the Kingdom and the region.

Mansour Abuthnain, the Executive Vice President for the Projects and Technical Services Department, and Masashi Goto, the President of FujiClean signed the MoU on Sunday, December 24, 2023.

Engineer Mansour Abuthnain said: "The MoU is part of the company's efforts to localize wastewater treatment technologies and cooperate with all local and international entities to develop and improve the efficiency of the water industry." The new Japanese technology is characterized by not requiring large areas, as it can be used in remote areas and scattered population centers in a decentralized manner. The new technology will help expand sanitation in the Kingdom as it produces high-quality treated water that enables reuse in line with the objectives of the Saudi Green Initiative (SGI) and the Middle East Green Initiative (MEGI), which aim to develop vegetation, combat desertification, achieve environmental standards, and introduce modern technologies that meet sustainability criteria.

Engineer Mansour Abuthnain also explained that the National Water Company, as a national company, aims to implement a program to strengthen and localize the technologies used by FujiClean through cooperation with the Japanese side. This will be done by creating training programs for the engineers and technicians working at NWC, as well as developing the current skills and national workforce in collaboration with local and international sectors, according to the MoU.
