Jamaica to demo British wastewater modular treatment technology
The National Water Commission (NWC) of Jamaica has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with British company Gurney Environmental to set up a demonstration site for the company¡¯s technology.
The aim of the demonstration will be to show the company¡¯s Accel-o-Fac system can be used to upgrade an existing lagoon-based system operated by NWC.
Powered by wind energy, the modular wastewater system can be used to upgrade existing lagoon-based systems and uses a biological aerated treatment process.
Gurney Environmental said it is also working with local consultants on the island to demonstrate how the company¡¯s system can be used for new build plants in peri urban areas.
¡°Aero-Fac can provide activated sludge quality effluent but without the high CAPEX and continuous ongoing OPEX costs associated with A/S.¡±
